NDERE BEL'S AI HUB?

BEL'S AI HUB is an introductory training in artificial intelligence for young level 1 and 2 computer scientists at the university. This training consists of providing learners with the knowledge necessary to design a project based on machine learning, from data collection to model deployment, thanks to python libraries. This edition will take place in the city of NGAOUNDERE Cameroon.

How will the training take place?

Indeed, it is a series of theoretical and practical sessions that allow us to arouse in students, the desire to pursue a career in artificial intelligence (research or industry). In addition to these technical sessions, we have soft skills sessions that aim to teach them how to build their professional profile (GitHub, LinkedIn, etc...).

It is also a way to create links between these students and professionals already working in the field around the new topics of artificial intelligence and internship opportunities offered by companies doing artificial intelligence.

How do we achieve our goal?

Step I: Theoretical training of students on the basics of artificial intelligence

Step I: Theoretical training of students on the basics of artificial intelligence

This consists of giving students the theoretical basis necessary for the understanding of how an AI model works and the design until the realization of an artificial intelligence project.

Step II: Practical training of learners on topics from the professional world

During the training, the organizing team of NDERE BEL'S AI HUB invites a professional from the world of data to come and talk to his students on several essential themes for their professional integration in the field.

Step III: Creation of artificial intelligence project groups

One of the main objectives of the NDERE BEL'S AI HUB project is the fact that at the end of this training, a student can lead an artificial intelligence project from start to finish. To do so, students are grouped into teams (to simulate the environment of the company) around a project that they will carry out and that they will defend at the end of the training.

Step IV: Practical training of students on the design and implementation of their AI project

As the groups are set up, there is a need to monitor the progress of the work. Practical sessions are therefore organized by the NDERE BEL'S AI HUB team to better guide learners in their project and try to solve the programming difficulties they face by several tricks of the python language and its libraries.

SPEAKERS AT NDERE BEL'S AI HUB

Each week, students participating in the NDERE BEL'AI HUB benefit from the expertise of a professional in a specific field of data. The latter maintains them on an important theme in the business world.

INTRODUCTION TO GitHub

To facilitate collaborative work on their project, our NDERE BEL'S AI HUB 2022 session learners attended a practical session on how to use Github. During this session, they were able to create Github accounts, install the desktop version of Github, learn how to make commits, pushes and fetches on an example project created during the session. This session was led by Aboubakar Moussa who was able to answer many questions from the learners during his presentation.

NDERE BEL'S AI Hub is also a space to teach learners to present their career profiles on professional platforms in order to better seize opportunities. Recently, they had an enriching exchange on the optimisation of their LinkedIn accounts, a professional social network, by Maurice Nontondji

MATHEMATICS AND DATA SCIENCE

As AI is indissociable from some mathematics notions, the learners of NDERE BELS IA HUB followed last Saturday a presentation on the basic notions of linear algebra useful in data science and in machine learning, presentation made by Mrs Raissa Kameni. This presentation was not easy to digest for your learners, but it had the merit to show them that the libraries they will use later for various data processing and analysis operations are essentially mathematics.

ETHICS; AI AND DATA PROTECTION AND PRIVACY

We had the pleasure of welcoming Richard Sinibagiwe for an exchange on the management of personal data in the design of artificial intelligence models. The aim of this presentation was to inform the students about the regulations of personal data in the world and in Cameroon in particular so that they are aware of the risks they run in case of mismanagement of the latter. As a prelude to the application project phase, this presentation also aimed to instill in them some ethical practices to be taken into account when handling data sets.

THE OPPORTUNITIES OF DATA SCIENCE

The learners of NDERE BEL'S IA HUB followed the presentation of Mr. Daouda Tandiang DJIBA, on the opportunities of Data Science. This presentation allowed the students to understand the notion of Data Science and the opportunities it offers.

THE FUNDAMENTALS OF AI AND ITS FIELDS OF APPLICATION

During the first training session of the NDERE BEL'S AI HUB, the learners had the opportunity to talk with the brilliant Sokhar Samb, data scientist at THEOLEX, who shared her personal experience in the field of AI, the fundamentals of this science and its application areas. After his talk, a rich question and answer session followed which filled our learners with enthusiasm.

Google Colab FOR GROUP ML/AI PROJECTS

The learners of NDERE BEL'S AI Hub will make their application projects in common via the Google Colab platform. For this purpose, they have an exchange with Mrs. Mariama Drame on the functioning of this tool and on how to connect its dataset (locally or in the drive) with Google Colab.

NDERE BEL'S AI HUB learner

Artificial intelligence is a new science that is unknown to many and that I only heard about without really knowing what it is. Thanks to the Bel's AI Hub 2022 edition program initiated by Bel's AI Initiative, I was able to discover this science and I was trained in the basics of machine learning. This program was like a trigger for me because today I plan to pursue a career in artificial intelligence.
For this I would like to thank the Bel's AI Initiative association for this training which was very useful to me and I hope to attend the next session.
