Celebrating this milestone in the training of our BEL'S AI INITIATIVE tutors
Four members of BEL'S AI initiative attended the Deep Learning Indaba 2023 in Ghana. We can't keep calm as this is one step ahead to our mission in demystifying AI to early students in computer science through our project BEL'S AI HUB that will organise yearly in collaboration with universities in Cameroon for now.
Who are they?
- In fact, we started to work with all of them: Borel SONNA, Mureille Laure Obaya, Lauren Moukodi and André Nyemb Ndjem 2 years ago during the Ndere BEL'S AI hub organised at the university of Ngaoundere Cameroon, at that time they were completely new in the field. They have successfully completed the program and we took them in the team as tutors
- For now, most of them have already submitted a final school project based on ML models. That was our first win and they made us proud.
- Now we have been thrilled to see them attend the Deep Learning Inbaba 2023 with travel and accommodation sponsorship thanks to Deep Learning Inbaba and Mozilla foundation. We are thankful for your efforts in accompanying us in our mission.
How did the conference go?
- Furthermore, they succeeded in winning some prizes during the conference. Two of them won a computer bag from InstaDeep Ltd during a quizz session and their poster won a scientific writing prize.
- We did not expect that much for a first participation but this is a source of motivation to work hard with them and others young to enhance AI literacy in Africa to challenge our daily problems in all areas.
Finally we are grateful to all people that make their stay peaceful and joyful. We start with Daouda Tandiang DJIBA , one of their instructors during the NDERE BEL'S AI HUB. Foutse Yuehgoh who promotes Cameroonian in AI through KmerAI , Abigail Annkah and Abdoulaye Diack to host them at Google Accra headquarters , Emily Muller during their travel planing and , Kathleen Siminyu and KOFI YEBOAH for support and advices , Fatima Tambajang for tips and gifts from NVIDIA, Albert Njoroge Kahira for connect them to opportunities in Cameroon and all the Deep Learning Inbaba organisers.
